Badrinath

This temple is located at a height of 3,133 mts and is well known as the largest and the most popular Vishnu pilgrimages among the five Badris. King Puruvana is believed to have built this temple which has an idol of Lord Vishwakarma the creator of the gods carved in its interiors. If one wants to experience holiness this shrine is one of the most significant out of the four Badris.
Bhavishya Badri
Bhavishya Badri is also among the Panch Badris which is located at a height of 2,774 m and is situated amidst the thick forests surroundings Tapovan. This shrine possesses the lion headed image of Narsingh which is one of the most prominent features of the temple. Visitors have to pass the serene Tapovan known for its hot water springs en-route to the banks of the Dhauliganga and on to the shrine.
Yogdhyan Badri
This temple is named after the name of Pandav King. It is located at Pandukeshwar at the height of 1920 m. According to a myth, the sanctum has an image of the Lord in a meditative (Yog Dhyan) posture. It is said that the Pandavas, victorious after their battle against the Kauravas, but emotionally scarred, came to the Himalayas. And it was the place where they handed over their capital, Hastinapur, to Raja Parikshit and took up penance before seeking out the highway to heaven.
Virdha Badri
Virdha Badri is situated at Animath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, in the direction of Pipalkoti, at an altitude of 1380 m. It is said that when mankind entered the age of Kaliyug, Vishnu chose to remove himself from the temple. Interestingly, the image was found by Adi Shankaracharya at Naradkund and restored.The Vridha Badri is one amongst the “Sapt Badri” temples in the Badrikshetra. The name of Vridha Badri is derived from the form of an old man in which Lord Vishnu is worshiped here.
