The small hilly destination of Harsil, became popular by the name name of legend Pahari Wilson or Raja Wilson. Fredrick E Wilson, escaped into the Garhwal region and went to the King of Tehri for a safe place. The King of Tehri was honest to the British so, he refused to shelter him. Then Wilson moved to the mountains and hides himself there. The fortune of Wilson brought him into Harsil a beautiful hamlet located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Wilson deserted the British army after 1857 of Sepoy Munity.

During that time Lord Visnu appeared there in the shape of a stone or Shila and absorbed his anger. From that time the place become famous by the name of Harsil. The region is located in Uttarakhand state of India. It is closer to Gangotri, one of the Hindu pilgrimage sites of Char Dham. The small town is perched at an elevation of 8600 ft above the sea level. The beautiful Harsil is still to be explored. Harsil is in the middle of the Kumaon Himalayas.

Weather of Harsil stays pleasant throughout the year. The best time to visit Harsil starts from April and remain plesants till June ends and September to November. The maximum temperature in Harsil ranges from 15 degree Celsius and the minimum is 10 degree Celsius. Summers will be the best place to visit. The months of winters begins from October and extend to January. The month of February brings pleasant climate. Maximum temperature in winters is 10 degree and goes down to 0 degree Celsius. In winters the region also receives a specific amount of snowfalls. So, during winters, snow lovers can enjoy a good time in trip to Harsil.
