Chakrata is located approximately 156 kms from the city of Dehradun and Haridwar 207kms in Uttarakhand. Chakrata is Famos Hill Station located Yamuna valley down the hilly town and the panoramic view. Chakrata was developed by the British rulers and was a summer retreat for the high executives of English East India Company. Presently Chakrata encloses military cantonment and the access is restricted here for civilian travelers.The massive Himalayan peaks like Rohini Peak, Swarga Peak and the Banderpoonch,Chakrata. Almost beauty of the nature can be sighted from here.
It is an ideal place for Bird Watching and butterflies of different colors are in plenty here. Yellow - Crowned Woodpecker, Himalayan Woodpecker, Brown Headed Barbet, Coppersmith Barbet, Common Hawk Cuckoo, Oriental Turtle Dove, Grey Treepie, Blue Whistling Thrush, Chukar Partridge, Cinereous Vulture, Speckled Piculet, Wallcreeper, Bar-tailed Treeceeper, Russet Sparrow, Spotted Nutcracker, Black and Yellow Grosbeak, Brown Bullfinch, White- cheecked Nuthatch etc. more than 100s of birds found here.

Chakrata Tourist Attraction:
Tiger Falls: Tiger falls is the main attraction in Chakrata - 20 kms and 1kms trek from road. Chakrata Tiger water fall is highest (height of about 312ft.) waterfall in Uttarakhand.
Treeking in Tiger Fall: travellers can be reached by an easy take 5 km trek from Chakrata through forest to reach Tiger Falls the travellers through the dense forests with rhododendron and oak trees.
Deoban: Deoban is a beautiful dense forest of covered with Deodar trees.Situated 12kms from Chakrata.where you can see the captivating and eye feasting views of the enchanting Himalayan range.
Sunset view: Trek to Budher is famous for sunset view, located just 40 kms from Chakrata town.
Budher Cave (40 kms): Thana Danda Peak are other popular tourist places in the vicinity of Chakrata.
Kalsi (43kms):This spiritual site is preserved by the National Archaeological Department as this edict has great historical significance.
Ram Tall Horticulture Garden (12 kms): A beautiful natural pond,variety of flora and fauna, worth seen sceneries and apple garden making it an ideal picnic spot.
Kanasar: 28 K.M. from Chakrata. A forest of deodar or pine. The deodar trees here said to have the largest trunk in Asia.
Chirmiri(3kms): Chirmiri Neck is the highest peak in Chakrata surrounded by lush green deodar forests.Tourists can enjoy the magnificent view of the Himalayan Range.
Moigad Fall (29kms): Moigad Fall is scenic, relaxing and perfect picnic spot. Tourist can enjoy the bath under the waterfall.
Chinta Haran Mahadev (3kms): Chinta Haran Mahadev is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is situated 3 kms from town Chakrata.

Best Season Visit Chakrata: Through the year, may keep off freezing days in January and February.(January to February is perfect for the indoor activities and honeymoon trips) June to September is good with beautiful showers but slippery roads make the travel difficult. October to December is ideal for outings in the picturesque landscapes. March to May is the ideal season for outdoor activities.
